Updating SSL Certificate Broke OpenVPN cert trust

I updated our server with a vaild SSL certificate from Let's Encrypt and noticed that it broke the Openvpn connection... reissuing a new .ovpn fixes it and I can connect again. My question is the certificates are good for 90 days. How would I renew without breaking the Openvpn cert trust again or if it will.. or how to renew without that being broken and having to reissue a new .ovpn every time.
