SSTP Shield: SoftEther/SSTP GUI + CLI for Linux — trial and feedback

Hi everyone,

I’m the developer of SSTP Shield, an independent VPN client for SoftEther and SSTP servers. I’m introducing it here because I’d like to hear from people who use SoftEther on Linux and want a graphical connection workflow alongside a CLI.

On Linux and Windows it supports SoftEther and SSTP; Android currently supports SSTP. The desktop app includes server lists, latency checks, bookmarks, reconnection settings and sstp-shield-cli. There is also HTTP/SOCKS5 proxy sharing for other devices on your local network.

For people using the public VPN Gate pool, Simple mode selects servers and checks whether web pages actually load. The aim is to make finding a working connection and switching away from a failed server less manual. VPN Gate availability still depends on independently operated servers.

Linux compatibility
Downloads include .deb, Arch/Manjaro and tarball builds. Current builds require x86_64 and glibc 2.39 or newer. Older distributions and ARM machines are not supported yet.

Commercial and privacy details
This is proprietary software with a free trial, followed by paid access. Pricing and payment details are shown in the app. The GitHub repository contains binaries and documentation; the application source is not published there.

The activation/server-list backend does not carry your tunneled traffic, but retains device identifiers, session timestamps and subscription records. VPN Gate also retains connection logs, and relay operators have their own logging practices. This should not be treated as a no-logs anonymity service. SSTP Shield is not affiliated with the SoftEther or VPN Gate projects.

If you already use SoftEther or SSTP on Linux, I’d appreciate hearing which distribution/version you use, whether installation and connection work, and what happens when a server drops. If you’re having setup trouble, post the distro and protocol here and I’ll help investigate. Please do not share passwords or private server credentials.

Thanks for taking a look.
