which is the best and most secure vpn client to use?

Hi,

today I discovered SoftEther VPN and I experimented with different vpn clients. So first I used the SoftEther VPN client, after that I connected with openvpn and lastly I configured a L2TP/Ipsec connection with Windows 7. Because there are so many possibilities to connect, what VPN ist the best choice regarding security and speed.

Normally I've been using openvpn and there you can set the config files in a very secure way. Can someone give here some infos and more input to compare the different protocols especially in terms of security.
