Split Tunneling?

I need to connect to my home network from work via VPN so that I can remote desktop into my LAN PCs at home. I am using SoftEther in a "Remote Access to LAN" capacity. I'm assuming that's the configuration I need to use.

The issue I'm having is that as soon as I connect from work to the VPN server at home, the work PC uses the remote home network for all Internet and network access. A friend indicated there is a thing called "split tunneling" which would allow my work PC to continue to use the work network as it usually does and only use the VPN connection for the remote desktop activities. However, I'm unable to find that option anywhere in the client or server. Can someone tell me how I would do this?

Thanks in advance.

Just saw this same question asked in the thread located at http://www.vpnusers.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=2643 - sorry for posting before seeing it - I'll figure out how to "change the metric" as specified and update this thread.

Ok setting the metric on every adapter (except built-in MS virtual adapters) fixed the issue and gave me control over what connections were used and when. I used the guide located at:

Hope this helps someone.
