IP doesn't seem to change

Hello, It says I'm connected to the VPN gate but nothing seems to change. Running the ipconfig just shows my actual ip, and other ip checkers do the same. I've tried reinstalling the vpn adapter, I've disabled all my antivirus programs, and I've reinstalled vpn gate multiple times to no avail. The only thing that somewhat works is using hosts with very few active sessions, but even then it will only seem to bypass some ip checkers and not others, and the ipconfig still shows my real address. If anyone could help I would really appreciate it.
