Ubuntu 17 Installation problem

Post by mciapponi51 » Tue Aug 01, 2017 1:05 pm

I have softether vpn server working ok on both Windows 7-64 and Ubuntu 16 -32.
Last weekI upgraded one ubuntu 16 64 bit to Ubuntu 17 with a new fresh installation.
But during installation script (make) I got the following error:

/usr/bin/ld: code/vpnserver.a(vpnserver.o): relocation R_X86_64_32 against symbol `StopProcess' can not be used when making a shared object; recompile with -fPIC

I didn't found any answer by Google, Does anyone has an idea?

I have made the process that you indicate but I still find errors.

I followed the following procedure:

apt-get update && apt-get -y upgrade
apt-get -y install git-core build-essential
apt-get install libreadline6-dev libncurses5-dev libssl-dev
apt-get install checkinstall
git clone https://github.com/SoftEtherVPN/SoftEtherVPN.git
SoftEtherVPN cd
checkinstall -D make install

And I got the following:

Copying the files to the temporary directory ... OK

Stripping ELF binaries and libraries ... OK

Compressing manual pages ... OK

Creating the file list ... OK

Creating the Debian package ... OK

Installing the Debian package ... FAILED!

*** The installation of the package failed

Preparing to unpack softethervpn_20171028-1_amd64.deb ...
Unpacking softethervpn (20171028-1) ...

dpkg-deb: error: the copied thread was terminated by the signal (broken pipe)
Errors were encountered while processing:

Can you help me, please, my friend?
