Windows VPN Question

Post by Alex_NL » Mon Aug 07, 2017 10:51 pm

Hi Guys,

Have a (maybe) simple question, I've set up a L2TP connection to a windows server using SoftEther VPN.
The client connects succesfully, also I can ping the IP adress of the virtual server (192.168.1.30).
I've enabled Virtual NAT and set DHCP for the clients.

Now my problem, this server is a VPS and directly connected to the internet so no routers, also there is only one NIC so no LAN other then the server itself.

My main goal was to set up a VPN so users can work via RDP on this server but when I try to connect via RDP to the 192.168.1.30 it will not connect. I made sure the windows firewall is disabled for testing.

How can I configue the server to redirect traffic to the only NIC present in the server.

Am i missing some config, tried searching this for hours but can seem to find a solution.
Some help would be much appreciated!

Alex

192.168.30.1 is SecureNAT virtual host. It's not the VPS.
Please install VPN client on the VPS and connect VPN to the virtual hub.

Thanks for the excellent feedback. Would be interested in knowing what topics would be helpful for you in the future, too.

Today, I noticed that SoftEther VPN made a connection without me asking for it. It was running in background while I was doing some work, until I got notified that I was connected to it. This is scary, I did not make any connection which was sending data 4 mbps somewhere. anyone?

Could you check whether you join the VPN Gate volunteer program?
