How do you actually implement Method 3 (as shown below)?

It is my understanding that to have a local bridge, the VPN server must support promiscuous Ethernet mode, which Amazon EC2 does not. I'm currently trying to do this using SecureNAT, but I'd certainly prefer the local bridge method if it's somehow possible.
