Multipath

Post by andysc3 » Sat Jul 02, 2016 1:15 pm

Can SoftEther work over a multipath TCP connection, like OpenVPN? We'll have two WiFi clients, on different uplinks, and want to use both for redundancy / resilience and also performance. Ultimately we'll also be adding an LTE / 4G connection as well.

i have an embedded system, connected to multiple devices (not relevant here, but mostly direct serial links for data collection), which then has two possible upstream routes (with a third as an option). The upstream connections then all reach the same server using different gateways. Using multipath tcp (https://multipath-tcp.org/pmwiki.php) I should be able to run an SSH session from the embedded box to the server, load-balancing or at least as a resilient route (with zero failover time).

Can SoftEther work in same way - use multiple different, independent "circuits" from point A to point B, effectively channel-bonded by the multipath - and provide me a single connection that survives 'partial' disconnection?
Has anyone tried?

Thanks!

Hi there!, sorry but i couldn't understand much about your problem, but a question comes into my mind, is your Balancing strategy network-level(L3) or transport level(L4) or application level (L7) ?

it's a good idea to provide us a draw about your scenario.

Good luck (:

multipath TCP handles the multiple routes, load balancing and so on at L4 (TCP connectivity), I just wondered if anyone has tried SoftEther over multipath TCP before?
Will try a drawing when got time, had hoped it would be an easy question :)

SoftEther doesn't support multipath TCP.
However you can connect multiple session on L7.
If you want to use multipath TCP on these sessions, you can use.
