The best way is to check logs if your software has the ability to store logs. I think a possible cause for disconnect might be to do with the lack of certificates and that they are all self signed certificates on the VPN server end. If you have connectivity during that 30 seconds then it might be due to inactivity which could be anything including power saving mode that may disconnect connections when they are deemed inactive.
