As far as I remember IPSec is one of the protocols which don't work In a cluster mode. OpenVPN doesn't, too. Double check for SE Docs for further information.

A routing issue. generally, your clients are supposed to get routing instructions from the DHCP so that they-your clients- know that they have to send packets, which destined to your third-party networks, to your SE server or make sure the SE server is their default gateway(there is one more option)...

What is the original goal that you're seeking for? If you need to restrict access on a specific adapter you could use firewall on Windows machines so that you only allow the ports that you want to pass. Hello there! Here is one possible solution but you may consider it a little dirty. Anyway, you could delete that user and then create it back. If you use a script for that, it would happen in less than a second or a couple. Also, you can investigate further on this for yourself.

Do you mean by "join" making the home DC capable of communicating with the cloudy DC ?. I mean by "communicating" they both see each other as if they were on the same Ethernet segment/IP network. Or you meant to use "join" as Microsoft defined in its docs ?

It's not clear what you want. Do you want to make the remote DC an additional DC to your home's DC ? or you want to join machines from your home to the remote DC ?

I would like to suggest this : create a tap device and bridge that tap device to the virtual hub (SE side) and then create another bridge but this time on Windows, create a bridge between the physical interface and the tap device and enable STP on the Windows-bridge settings.

Try to make your set-up like this : bridge the virtual hub to the tap device, this process should be done by SE. Then, create a bridge(Linux-side, outside SE env) and add both tap and eth0 to. Set an IP address on the eth0 interface.

Why does SE manual recommend RC4, well.. that is another story. You have options, choose whatever you would like to choose, regarding speed or strength of encryption, such as, AES256 or the default one that is recommended by SE developers.

That is right, one of the advantage of SE technology that you can use it behind NAT technology. However, "Routing Instructions" is a concept that is not related to that matter. If you want to use L2TP/IPSec, then you must open UDP/4500 and UDP/500 and forward them to your SE server. If you can't open those two ports, can you open other ports ?, what about using OpenVPN ?, there is an application which you can use on your IPhone

Since your topology is a L2 VPN, then your IP network on the two sides should be the same. What is the subnet that you are using ?. Have you set that subnet up on both sides ?
